The Gabriel RIchard Pioneers would face Bishop Foley (Madison Heights) for the final home game. With Pioneers would look to accomplish a feet that hadn’t been accomplished in the past three years. Make the CHSL Play-offs.
“Making the play-offs is one of our goals.” Second year coach Falon Mulins said. “The league (Catholic League) is one of the toughest leagues in the state. Making it to this level is a great feeling for our girls.” Millins added.
The first set would go to the visitors, Bishop Foley. Winning handily (25-15) the Ventures seemed poised to capture the last play-off spot. However, the Pioneers would answer repeatedly.
The second set saw the Pioneers make the adjustments and clobber Foley by the score of 25-16.
In the third set, Richard would win a closely fought battle. Seniors, Monica Dziuba and Alex Friedrich would provide the offensive punch to power them to a 25-18 win.
The Ventures would fight back and win the fourth set winning 25-20 and setting up the fifth match.
It was all the Pioneers in the final set. Again, relying on the Seniors, on their night, Richard would dominate 15-8 and secure the final play-off spot.
The Pioneers will face #2 seed, Everest Collegiate on Thursday, October 23rd at 5pm. The game will be played at Cabrini. The winner will play Cabrini at 6pm.
The CHSL Championship will be on Monday, October 27th at Madonna University.
