ROCHESTER HILLS – It didn’t take long for the Metro League to establish its dominance at the first-ever OAA-Metro League Showcase Saturday at the Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester Hills.
The league won the first six games, most in dominating fashion. At last count, the Metro League was 7-4-1 with 12 of the 13 games being reported. Ann Arbor Pioneer, Wyandotte-Roosevelt, Dearborn Unified, Dearborn Divine Child, Riverview Gabriel Richard, Brownstown Woodhaven and Grosse Pointe South all won for the Metro League.
Rochester United, Birmingham Unified, Lake Orion and Berkley made it interesting for the OAA, with all four winning in quick fashion to cut the gap. Royal Oak and University Liggett tied in one of the evening games.
Riverview Gabriel Richard 6, Bloomfield Hills 1 – Jacob Christiansen and Hayden Flynn scored two goals apiece to lift the Pirates. Cameron Flynn and Austin Harrison added one each in the win. Sasha Black scored with 23 seconds left to play to help Bloomfield Hills avoid the shutout.
