After a tough loss against Royal Oak Shrine earlier in the week, the Pioneers were determined to perform well as they conclude games before their spring break.
The Pioneers hosted SMCC for a Saturday matinee. Although they were short 6 players, the young team performed well beyond expectations.
The Pioneers would take an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Goals by Sophomore, Chance Desana and Sophomore, Nick Conrad.
In the second, Richard would continue to add to the lead. Freshman, Gabe Parks and Conrad would score to extend the lead at half 7-0.
The Pioneers would go on to route St. Mary’s (Catholic Central) 11-1.
“We played well defensively and took advantage of our fast break opportunities. With such a young team, we are excited as a coaching staff to see so many first year players contributing to this win.” Coach Morin said.
Consistent scoring from Chance Desana (3) and Nick Conrad (3) anchored the pioneer offense. The defense as a unit provided all that they needed to shut down the falcons. Drew Dykowski had a stellar performance as the winning goalie saving 17 of 18 shots.
“The season has just begun but we have a lot of promise. If our kids keep working as hard as they have been, success will follow them.” Coach Morin added.
The Pioneers will face Lincoln High School on April 21st at Ypsilanti.
