Winning the meet for the boys was Notre Dame Prep with 41 points, 2nd place Grosse Ile with 61; 3rd place was Ferndale with 93 – Gabriel Richard came in 6th with 131 points. The Pioneers had 2 boys place in the top 25 – leading the way was Andrew Holten in 6th place and Jacob Gosen in 22nd place. Adam Holten took 32nd place and in 34th place was Joshua Tynan. Jordan McKinney came in 40th place and rounding out the field was Sean Clancy in 46th place.
“I thought our team ran well even though the course was very hilly.” Head Coach Ben Madero said.
The girls’ meet was won by Notre Dame Prep with 34 points, 2nd place was Flint Powers Catholic with 46 points, and Grosse Ile came in 3rd with 65 points – Gabriel Richard came in 6th with 156 points. Leading the way for GR was Mary Sirois, GR’s only medal winner. In 22nd place, just missing a medal, was Catherine Cole (28th place) and in 34th place was Elizabeth Hanoian. Freshman Olivia Magiera came in 38th place; in 40th place was Alyssa Wladysiak; in 51st place was our first-time runner, Destiny Jones – she improved her time from the last race by a minute; in 52nd place was Emily DeHaan; and in 54th place was Gillian Draft.
“Both team showed improvement from the last race, and I hope the momentum continues in our next Jamboree.” Coach Madero added.
GR will run on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Patriots’ Park.
