It was a good day for the Richard boys’ cross country team – they came in 2nd place out of 8 teams! Winning the meet was Homer with 58 points, Gabriel Richard with 81 points, 3rd Place Pittsford with 102 points, and Tekonsha in 4th place with 105 points, Michigan Center with 107 points, Adrian Madison at 142, Addison with 144 points, and Hudson with 157 points.
Leading the way for Richard was freshman, Alex Meszaros at a time of 18:32.43 and John Borowicz at a 14th place finish (19:35.36). Also medaling was Parker Heggie, sophomore, at 24th place with a time of 20:19.55. Rounding out the field was junior Nick Loewengruber at 26th place with a time of 20:35.
Also, Peter Laskaris (sophomore) took 27th place with a time of 20:37.86, Steven Bagozzi (junior) had a time of 21:21.53, and Nick Cole (Sophomore) at 24:11.88.
“I was very impressed with all their times.” Coach Madero Said. “They have improved greatly from the last meet.”
The girls placed 6th at the Homer Invitational – winning the meet was Hudson with 32 points; Pittsford came in 2nd with 46 points; Homer was 3rd with 83 points; Michigan Center at 4th with 112; Adrian Madison was 5th with 121 points; Riverview Gabriel Richard was 6th with 125 points; and Athens was 7th with 176 points. Leading the way for GR was Lily Green, 12th place finish, with a time of 22:59; also medal winner was senior Alyssa Wladysiak, 19th place, with a time of 23:41.89. Rounding out the field was Olivia Magiera, junior, with a time of 25:33.14 – Gillian Draft (junior) at 26:04.92 – freshman Megan Luclow (at 27:11.16 – Sarah Wojitylko (freshman) at 29:09.
“With such a small team (7 boys, 6 girls), I see great improvement in both teams.” Coach Madero added. “Most of our runners at this meet PRd (Personal Record). We need to keep up the good work as we continue through the season.”
Our next meet is Tuesday, September 10th, our first Jamboree at Patriot’s Park.
