Riverview Gabriel Richard welcomed in Macomb Lutheran North on Friday night for a battle of two teams who both dominated in the first week of CHSL Intersectional 1 play.

Richard was up by 15 points after three quarters and then pulled away with three touchdowns in the fourth to earn a 50-22 victory over the Mustangs.

For the Pioneers on Friday, Nathan Palumbo ran the ball 11 times for 64 yards and three touchdowns and Michael Holdsclaw had 11 carries for 97 yards and a score.

Quarterback Joe Wisniewski was 5-for-7 passing for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Quinn Hess caught three passes for 37 yards and a score and Matt Maki hauled in a touchdown pass.

In addition, Ivan Hernandez rushed for a touchdown and was 6-for-6 kicking extra points.

Defensively, Nick Szczechowski had two interceptions and Ethan Mehall picked off one pass.

Hess led the team in total tackles with nine while Carson Sollars had eight and Travis Lipetzky finished with five.

Both teams are scheduled to play again on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.

Richard will make a long trek north to Manistee for a non-league game and the Mustangs will be at Liggett.
