Boy’s Cross Country Takes Second!!!!

Gabriel Richard would enter the CHSL Championship without one of their top runners, Nick Hammond. Hammond placed in the top 5 in every league meet, including two first place finishes. When the 2014 News-Herald Cross Country Invitational boys’ race wrapped up Saturday morning, things looked pretty familiar at the top. For the second consecutive season, Woodhaven came away as the champs at Riverview’s Young Patriots Park and for the second time in as many years the squad’s top runner, Logan Kleam, finished in first place.

The Gabriel Richard Catholic Pioneers competed in the Catholic High School League Jamboree Tuesday at Lake St. Clair Metropark. The Richard boys were tops among Division 3 teams and finished with 155 points overall. The Pioneers were paced by freshman Nick Hammond (18:27) and senior Jack Randles(18:36), who topped the field of Division 3 competitors.
